Alcohol and Muscle Building, Don't Mix Them Please

Believe it or not, there are those who wonder if alcohol has an effect on their muscle building activities. The answer is a resounding yes alcohol will adversely affect your work out.

Protein is a key ingredient in muscle building and as such should not be interfered with. Unfortunately, alcohol impairs protein synthesis. Protein synthesis is the process by which amino acids are joined together to create complete proteins, alcohol consumption has been shown to slow this process by 20%.

There are another factors that affect your muscle gains like the level of testosterone in the body.Have you noticed that women do not have the same amount of muscle as men? The women have 15-20 times less testosterone than men do since this is because of low levels of tetosterone. What does that have to do with alcohol? In the body alcohol decreases the amount of testosterone and increases levels of estrogen.

When you drink alcohol, the kidneys must use massive amounts of water to process the toxin. Yes, the body recognizes alcohol as a toxin. When this happens, the body can quickly become dehydrated.

Nerves control muscles and nerves produce the stimuli to contract muscles from electrolyte minerals dissolved in water. Further more water lubricates the joints and protects them from injury during workouts.

Drinking alcohol robs your body of key vitamins. Alcohol depletes Vitamins B, C and A; in addition to calcium and phosphorous. If you consider the most important vitamins to develop healthy muscles are B and C, that is just one more reason that drinking alcohol while building muscle is such a big deal.

When you build muscle, you are looking to deplete stores of fat and increase muscle mass. Alcohol works against this effort. Alcohol contains what nutritionist call empty calorie, which is calories with no nutritional benefit. It also has twice as many calories as carbohydrates and protein.

While we are on this subject, it should be noted that calories consumed while drinking are the first ones to be burned. Alcohol calories are burned first, then fat stores are a energy backup. You will find that there are things that don't work and do work when exercising. You need to know which exercises will help you meet your goals and what will work against you.

You can however have to consider the other affects of alcohol on the body since we have examined most of the major points on alcohol and bodybuilding. If you use this for a prolonged amount of time it may lead to liver damage, diabeties or other medical problems. If you suffer from any one of these, you will have a hard time building muscle. At the end of the day, is it really worth the cost?

Mississippi Tourism - The Ghosts and Legends

Mississippi tourism can cover a wide range of things to see, from the Ghosts and Legends tour in Columbus to the "Candlelight Ghost Tour during Halloween Week in Vicksburg. Or you can go over to Noxubee County and visit the jail that was erected in 1907 and has operative gallows. Of course, there are things that are far less frightening to see in Mississippi such as the beautiful Magnolias mansion in Aberdeen with its antebellum architecture, exquisite mahogany staircase and beautiful furnishing. This home was built in 1850 and offers daily tours.

So what is in Pickensville? The Tom Bevill Visitors Center and Museum. Here you can see exhibits on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The replica of an antebellum plantation mansion serves as the museum and visitor center.

Stopping on Columbus on a Saturday night from March through September will allow you to visit the Columbus Speedway. This 3/10 mile, oval clay track with the high banks will give you lots of thrills as the cars race around. There is nothing quite like the noise, dirt and of course the greasy food at a track to make your vacation just a bit more special.

Black History Month in Columbus shows off the African-American Heritage with driving tours from the different locations in town. There is a celebration downtown on the weekend with Friday being a night of music, food and stories on Catfish Alley. The driving tours are held at 9, and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. On Saturdays the tour is free.

A visit to the small town of Magnolia will be something you will really enjoy. There are two National Historic Districts in town, the Myrtle Street District is representative of a typical neighborhood at the turn of the century. The Southtown Historic District has a variety of late nineteenth century residential homes to take you back in time. There are three of Mississippi's premier Queen Anne residences and an antebellum Greek revival cottage in this area that will be well worth seeing.

The town of Magnolia can be reached by Interstate 55, north or south, at exit 10, from the east on Highway 48 from Hattiesburg, Ms., and from the west on Highway 24 from Liberty, Ms. -

You should eat foods which are healthy and drink a whole bunch of water. If you eat good food, that is going to return great results for you.

Gaining yourself a six pack is not an impossible task. You won't have a six-pack when you get up in the morning; understand that this is not an easy process. Know that it can be done if you stick with it. Depending on how much fat you need to lose, this can be a lengthy process.
